17200 Riffleford Road

Known as the John H Gassaway house, this seven-acre farm is a beautifully restored example of mid-nineteenth century rural Victorian architecture. The oldest portion of the house was built in 1812 with several additions in the late 1800’s. The property was a prosperous farm until the State of Maryland purchased it in the 1970s as part of Seneca Creek Park. Unfortunately, the home fell into extreme disrepair during this time but it was beautifully restored through herculean efforts by subsequent owners including Marcia Saba, Bonnie and David Warfield and now Craig Wagoner, who plans to open Giving Tree Farm, an event venue on the property.
